Job Description

This role of User Experience Architect is a genuinely exciting opportunity to support the development and maintenance of our website and associated family of websites (inc. mobile and tablet). As a leading eCommerce retailer, with a collection of very successful websites, you will help to ensure we are best in class in terms of User Experience and that we continue to exceed customer and business expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Ensure our websites and all associated websites; continue to exceed customer expectations by remaining up-to-date in terms of competitor activity and new technology. Allow for the introduction of new and commercial ideas to adapt and improve the Users Experience of the company websites.
b) Work with the eCommerce Systems Team to Project Manage by setting development priorities; ensuring and maintaining agreed deadlines for new designs, developments and updates; providing analysis of planned developments; providing accurate Process Mapping and Design Flows to meet the commercial brand requirements.
c) Create and deliver stimulating and engaging presentations (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint) and deliver to Senior Managers, colleagues, departments and partners; demonstrating new ideas, concepts, developments and initiatives.
d) Have a sound knowledge of the requirements of Usability and Accessibility in relation to our family of websites and to be able use this knowledge to make recommendations for improvements.
e) Confidently and efficiently manage User Profiles and Stories, Information Architecture, Functional Specifications, Wireframes and Prototypes, while understanding the importance and effectiveness of User Centric Design.
f) Collecting, understanding, and transmitting of business requirements in order to translate these into functional specifications, site maps, wireframes and detailed test plans.
h) Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal departments such as eCommerce Systems; Business Systems; Legal; Credit and Risk; Directory Marketing and other teams.
i) Effectively plan and organise daily, weekly and monthly activities using the most effective tools; ensuring deadlines are met and any risks to deadlines are communicated to your line manager.
j) Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with external agencies and suppliers to ensure that they are providing the required level of service, on time and within budget, in accordance with business needs.

Candidate Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

a) Experience of working in a similar environment, preferably with regard to online development for a commercial retail website.
b) The ability and initiative to resolve problems quickly, in line with business needs.
c) Knowledge of Usability and Accessibility and a background of applying this to eCommerce websites.
d) The ability to interpret data and communicate this confidently, clearly and concisely.
e) Experience of producing effective Process Mapping, Design Flows, Site Maps and UX Wireframes.
f) Structured planning, methodical organisation and implementation skills.
g) A passion for the internet and eCommerce.
h) The ability to take full responsibility for decisions and actions taken.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

a) An eCommerce design and development background with Product Management experience would be preferable.
b) Experience of managing change throughout the product life-cycle; including following business requirements through specification, UX design, systems development and implementation.
c) Project Management skills and experience of overseeing projects, involving numerous stakeholders.
