Working on some of the best known brands, you’ll be responsible for defining and delivering an exceptional UX experience for our customers. You will lead designs for our multiple brand web site portfolio (including mobile), ensuring intuitive and best-in-class user experiences. This may include developing interactive prototypes (lo-fi / high-fi), wire-frames.
You will effectively lead user experience activities from scoping to delivery within e-commerce projects, providing expert input into end-to-end customer journey. Coupled with these key design led responsibilities, you will support focus groups, usability design and testing working with 3rd party research, UX and digital agencies as required. You will be a key input into branding design, new marketing campaigns and other projects as required
•Lead the UX design for websites in our portfolio, designing functionality to deliver against business requirements, liaising with all areas of e-commerce and web developers to create and refine optimal designs
•Support projects by providing wireframes, design concepts and final web ready output
•Ability to build prototypes of new features supported by appealing and user-centered design concepts, supporting and applying usability research/testing findings to the design process
•Design well thought-out solutions for usability challenges across different web and mobile platforms
•Design concepts and creative solutions for campaigns and promotions
•Create and design graphic elements to support email campaign templates and online promotional purposes including on site and 3rd party.
•Strong design and communication skills, providing direct creative advice to other teams working with brand guidelines across all websites
•Create 3rd party content such as dynamic banners, landing pages etc
•Help obtain business stakeholder buy-in for the proposed designs
•Meet the objectives and performance goals as defined in the business requirements document. Ensure that other team members understand the implications of functional and usability requirements.
Essential Technical Skills & Experience
thorough understanding of typography, layout, colour, user interface and navigation
•Experience of designing for customer journeys or transactional funnels
•Strong understanding of UX concepts such as
•Ability to work from rudimentary briefs to deliver a creative solution for what can be complex business requirements
•Excellent understanding of web usability, accessibility and email best practice
•Excellent skills with Photoshop, Illustrator
•Comfortable learning new technologies and concepts.
•Good knowledge of web technologies inc. HTML, CSS, JQuery allows you to take full advantage and produce exceptional online experiences
Desirable Technical Skills & Experience
•Advanced CSS knowledge is desirable but not essential
•Design background in online travel preferred
•Experience designing SEO-optimized pages
•Flash, Action Script
•Understanding of Information / Persuasion Architecture
•Familiar with editing CMS managing/templates (Umbraco, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal)
Essential Personal Skills & Qualifications
•GCSE (A* - C) Mathematics, English Language, English Literature.
• Graphical and/or design qualification or equivalent
•Extensive experience designing pages for a significant consumer e-commerce presence
•Experience working on transactional customer journeys
•Strong portfolio showcasing great online design
•Strong ‘can do’ attitude
•Works confidently without constant supervision yet is aware and works within internal processes
•Able to think creatively, innovate, constructively challenge the status quo and see the bigger picture
•Accepts responsibility for own workload, planning, scheduling and prioritising work effectively
•Proven excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•Flexible and happy to working in a pressured environment, to tight deadlines and often juggling many tasks at once
•Enthusiastic, self-confident, positive and energetic team player
•Presentation skills in communicating creative solutions
Desirable Personal Skills & Qualifications
•Educated to AS Level, NVQ (or similar)
•Degree level education
•Travel industry experience preferred
•Experience designing marketing materials (email, banners etc)
•Experience designing mobile sites or applications
•Produced online design guidelines
•Understanding of using data to drive design
•Commercial and analytical understanding
