The  Senior Website and Social Media Manager is responsible for defining, developing and implementing Nectar’s web and social channel activity, incorporating our websites, search, content marketing and social profiles and presence; in addition communicating and delivering all channel objectives, KPIs and metrics, including setting targets, budgeting and forecasting.  The position’s core remit is to grow the volume and depth of collector digital interaction with Nectar by providing an excellent online experience, and delivering through digital channels Nectar’s commercial, campaign and customer objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Channel strategy and management

  • Ultimate responsibility for content, functionality, collector experience and development of Nectar’s high traffic websites, in particular nectar.com (circa 45m visits per year)
  • Responsible for management of Nectar’s owned and earned social media communities, including direct communication to over 270k subscribers on multiple platforms
  • Monitors trends in user behaviour and website satisfaction to inform direction and development and drive future work; commissions additional research and analytical support as required
  • Initiates and oversees implementation of new ideas and functionality which enhance the simplicity and ease of use of websites and mobile websites as well as driving commercial and brand benefit
  • Collaboratively determines targets and KPIs on key areas of digital success, in line with Nectar strategy
  • Ensures all activity is integrated with the overall marketing and wider business plans as well as achievable in context of priorities and resource
  • Sources and manages relationships with agencies and 3rd party suppliers, ensuring Nectar’s investments offer maximum value for money
  • Defines, develops and embeds an effective social strategy to enable activities that drives business and brand benefit; including increased collector engagement, brand advocacy, and campaign activation
  • Leverages data and analytics to enhance understanding of our social communities, measures engagement and recommends actions
  • Feeds social media monitoring insights back into the business to highlight collector difficulties as well as new opportunities
  • Protects and enhances Nectar’s online reputation and brand, in particular through presence and customer service activity on social media
  • Increases Nectar’s reach and influence online, including ensuring content is optimised for search and socially shareable.   Analyses, reviews, and reports on effectiveness of campaign activity in order to maximise results
  • Ensures Nectar experiments, innovates and tests original ways to leverage digital content that generates collector engagement and brand visibility

Digital leadership

  • Internal champion for social media, working to embed social in marketing and sponsor campaign and comms approach
  • Collaborates with heads of department across business to create integrated planning processes to support interdepartmental and multichannel ways of working
  • Provides direction, coaching and training to customer service teams, sharing best practice and ensuring Nectar continues to deliver excellent customer service in high visibility social channels

Team leadership

  • Line manages Senior Web & Social Media Executive and Web & Social Media Executive
  • Develops team including supervisions/performance appraisals, objectives setting, and facilitating professional development

Budget management

  • Accountable for the efficient management of a budget of £250k+ per year
  • Leads budget and activity planning activities ensuring effective budget preparation, planning, monitoring and review
  • Operates as cost effectively as possible, including creating/managing external supplier and agency agreements
  • Produces business cases for increased or project investment when required

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Extensive experience of managing digital channels, including strategy, content marketing, and platform development
  • Advanced understanding of the digital marketing environment including content marketing, SEM, usability, testing, online PR, measurement and analysis
  • Experience and understanding of social media marketing techniques, platforms and management/monitoring tools, and how these can be deployed in different scenarios
  • Able to apply data, insight and research findings to inform planning
  • Experience of managing budgets of £250k+
  • Educated to degree level; specialist digital and/or marketing qualifications an advantage
  • Able to proactively engage in projects early – identifying digital opportunities, and ensuring campaigns are constructed for success from the start
  • Strong leadership combined with a collaborative and diplomatic approach; ability to prioritise and know when to push back
  • Experience enabling strong interdepartmental relationships
  • Collector-centricity, balanced with commercial understanding
  • A good judge of great creative work and a champion of the best ideas
