Role summary

This is a unique opportunity to join British Airways as Senior Distribution Lead or Distribution Lead play a critical role in the rollout and adoption of New Distribution Capability (NDC) across the airline industry. British Airways has been a leading player in the development of the NDC data transmission standard. NDC brings together the whole travel experience, including shopping, booking and payment & ticketing, creating new opportunities for all parties in the industry.

Your high-profile role will involve taking responsibility for the development, evaluation and implementation of NDC channels, innovations and technologies. Integrating NDC into our global distribution strategy – and championing the strategy – you’ll deliver specialist expertise to support our key partners in their migration to NDC from both a commercial and technical perspective.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis, support and strategic insight to enable the wider British Airways account team to assist customers in NDC migration.
  • Monitor key decisions for their compatibility with business needs and their impact on costs and competitors.
  • Input projects across commercial teams to maximise profitability.
  • Collaborate with airline partners and sales to develop integrated channel and distribution strategies for our parent company International Airlines Group (IAG) and its businesses.
  • Work with our distribution and technology teams to ensure new customer capabilities are consistent with our existing IT architecture.

About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of indirect and online distribution models and technologies within the airline environment. A strong understanding of airline selling processes, revenue management and cost planning is also essential. 

You must have a track record of developing business-critical strategies, policies and frameworks, along with evidence of influencing change both internally and externally. Excellent people and project management skills, analytical expertise and commercial acumen will be key.
